Osmosis and diffusion.please help!!?

if two solutions are separated by a water-permeable membrane.the solution in compartment A is 100mosm and the solution in compartment B is 400mosm.will there be a change in the volume of the two compartment if the membrane is impermeable to solutes? what if the membrane is permeable to solutes,will there be a change in volume of the two compartments?
