How would you feel if someone offered 15 euros(~20 dollar) to move some luggage? Is this Normal?
Ok, so here is the deal. I am 20 & an undergraduate intern for six months as a Research istant at a leading business school in France. I am paid a reasonably good stipend (close to 2000 dollars per month). So I am just sitting at my desk busy with my own work and there is this Chinese PhD student who just joined the college and gets a desk next to mine. Obviously she comes and introduces herself and we exchange a few pleasantries. And then out of nowhere she tells me that she is looking for some help moving her heavy luggage at her home. uming it as a call for a friendly help, I was just about to say yes and guess what? She says she is ready to pay 15 euros for the same and it won't take more than an hour. She also tells me to ask if any of my friends would be willing to do in case I am busy. Now should I be insulted or what? Sure, I am an undergraduate college student but I am now also working at a good job. I would understand if she was just asking for some help but offering me money for that like I am some kinda of a homeless person is just beyond my understanding. Maybe I am just being paranoid. SO what I mean to ask is: was it ok/normal & not condescending of her to offer me money for a small help?
