Pregnancy tests and pregnancy?

i was due to have my period on sat the 30th of may which makes me 5 days late, i have taken a pregnancy test that was negative, is it possible that the test could be wrong? my period is neva late have had un protected this month with my partner, but because the test was negative im not sure what to do now
