Have you ever doubted his "father potential"?

If you're going into a relationship based upon whether the man will be a good father or not you are going into it for the wrong reasons. Just as it is not certain that any woman would make a good mother it is not written in stone that a man would make a good father. Just because you think one man possess all of the qualities you THINK a man should have to be a father doesn't mean he would make a good father. There are men who would go through hell for their children but beat the crap out of their children's mother, in my opinion that is a lousy father. You will never know what kind of a father any man would make until he becomes one. You need to grow up quite a bit before choosing the man you intend to spend the rest of your life with and possibly have children with. You will also need to learn how to communicate with the man you intend to spend the rest of your life with. Just because a man is great with kids, is reliable, dependable and patient doesn't mean that he WANTS children of his own. It is very easy to be patient with someone else's children because you know that they will be going home with their parents at the end of the visit. You need to take into consideration the entire man. Not just what you are looking for in a father for your future children. You need to take into consideration what kind of a husband he is going to be. Whether he will be willing to work hard to keep the family out of the poor house, whether he will be a good partner for YOU before he can be a good father to your children.
