How did humans evolve to be so smart? And why humans?

Its amazing what humans have been able to do in the past few millenniums, but I just don't understand how they invented everything we have today over every other animal species? And also, why humans, it could have happened to any other animal species such as a rabbit, a frog, a giraffe or even a toucan. Why did they become smart and why over any other animal?
